GS1 Sweden’s business process for periodic invoicing simplifies e-business in the electricity, water and telephony sectors. The GS1 system can be used to identify services as well as meters and installations.
Invoicing electricity, water or telephony services
Periodic invoicing is used for products and services based on metered usage and which are invoiced periodically, for example consumption of electricity, water or telephony services. GS1 Sweden has developed a business process for periodic invoicing which simplifies invoice administration.
A GTIN (GS1 item identification) can be used to identify telephony or electricity distribution services which allows these to be easily distinguished.
Unique identification of electricity meters and installations
Nowadays customers are free to choose their electricity supplier. To streamline cooperation between suppliers the industry has chosen to use the GS1 system to uniquely identify electricity meters and installations (metering points). This simplifies administration when a customer changes supplier since the meter and installation retain their identities.
