A service segment starting and uniquely identifying a message. The message type code for the Purchase order message is ORDERS.

Segment Notes:
This segment is used to head, identify and specify a message.

DE's 0065, 0052, 0054: Indicates that the message is a UNSM Contractual Conditions message based on the D.96A directory under the control of the United Nations.

DE 0051: Indicates that although INSDES is being processed as a UNSM, the agency responsible for the present message is EN (EAN) because the message is still a status zero message.

DE 0057: Indicates that the message is the EANCOM version 00 of the UNSM Contractual Conditions message.
